Job summary

Centene Corporation seeks a senior applications leader to manage a team responsible for designing, developing, and implementing large-scale enterprise software solutions. You will collaborate with data modelers, architects, business analysts, data stewards, and SMEs to ensure design and delivery meet business needs.

The role oversees internal developers and third-party teams with a strong focus on budgeting, scheduling, and executive communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of related experience, including management.
• Experience overseeing large-scale application development projects.
• Experience leading third-party development teams.
• Ability to manage budgets and schedules.
• Strong communication with upper management.

Responsibilities

• Oversees a team of Senior Application Development Engineers on large-scale projects.
• Leads scope, schedule, and budget management with clear progress reporting.
• Makes decisions based on project progress and outcomes.
• Defines training and career development for developers.
• Manages 3rd party development vendors to standards.
• Identifies and mitigates risks; participates in controls.
• Communicates with Application and Infrastructure teams during service transitions.
• Partners with Security and SRE to ensure policies.
• Leads design and development of PoC environments.
• Manages hiring, reviews, and coaching of staff.
• Sets operational objectives and delegates tasks to ensure stable development activities.
• Develops staff capabilities and industry knowledge.
• Communicates departmental objectives and motivates team.
• Holds teams accountable to meet objectives.
• Performs other duties; complies with policies.
