Job summary

Hudbay Minerals is seeking a Senior Manager, Engineering to lead the execution of the Cactus Mine Project’s engineering scope. You will oversee EPCM consultants, design contractors, and third-party specialists, ensuring safety in design, schedule adherence, and budget control across FEED/FS and construction handover.

The role requires extensive experience in large-scale mining projects, strong project management skills, and a track record of directing multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related engineering discipline.
• 12+ years of progressive engineering experience in large-scale mining project execution.
• 5+ years of senior engineering leadership overseeing EPCM contractors.
• Extensive expertise in managing EPCM consultants on large CAPEX mining or heavy industrial projects.
• In-depth knowledge of mine infrastructure, processing facilities, tailings and site utilities.
• Strong proficiency with project management systems, cost forecasting, scheduling tools, and contract administration.

Responsibilities

• Lead EPCM consultants, engineering design firms, and third-party contractors on basic and detailed engineering for the CAPEX Cactus Mine Project.
• Coordinate site-wide discipline engineering scopes including crushing, leaching, SX/EW, tailings, utility infrastructure, and mine facilities.
• Ensure engineering specifications, standards, safety requirements, and regulations are integrated into design packages.
• Manage schedules, procurement deliverables, and technical evaluations to support milestones and long-lead equipment procurement.
• Drive Safety in Design, environmental stewardship, risk management, and quality systems across contracts.
• Oversee scope control, change management, technical queries, and design deviations across EPCM vendors.
• Lead trade-off studies, value engineering, and NAV optimization for major infrastructure.
• Maintain budget oversight, cost control, and man-hour forecasting across contracts.
