Job summary

Hudbay Minerals is seeking a Chief Metallurgist to lead metallurgical strategy for the Cactus Mine Project in Arizona. You will oversee crushing, heap leach, SX/EW operations, and drive process optimization, safety, and regulatory compliance across the site while mentoring a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires 15+ years in metallurgical engineering with 5+ years in senior leadership, and a strong track record in copper hydrometallurgy and large-scale operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mineral Processing, or related field.
• 15+ years in metallurgical engineering and technical management in large-scale mining or major projects, incl. 5+ years in leadership.
• 3+ years in heap leach and SX/EW copper operations.
• Proven executive leadership with copper hydrometallurgy and SX/EW experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and technical leadership for crushing, heap leach, SX, and EW operations.
• Direct metallurgical testwork, flowsheet development, optimization, and recovery modeling.
