Job summary

Hudbay is seeking an Area Lead – Civil & Geotechnical Engineering to lead tailings facilities, civil and geotechnical activities across a project area. You will manage consultants, coordinate design integration, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards throughout study, construction and commissioning phases.

The role requires senior engineering leadership, strong project execution discipline, and collaboration with process, mechanical, structural, electrical, and mining teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Geotechnical Engineering.
• 10+ years of engineering experience in mining or major capital projects.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and managing consultants.

Responsibilities

• Lead tailings facilities, civil and geotechnical engineering activities within the project area.
• Coordinate design reviews, model reviews, HAZOPs, constructability reviews, and risk assessments.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to engineering staff and consultants.
• Ensure designs are safe, practical, constructible, cost-effective, and aligned with standards and regulatory requirements.
• Support construction and field execution activities and manage interfaces across disciplines.
