Job summary

Eversource is seeking an experienced engineer to support electric grid operations and modernization across MA, CT and NH. You will provide engineering services, optimize distribution systems with DMS advanced features, and serve as a SME for ADMS, SCADA, DER dispatching, and energy storage.

Responsibilities include collaborating with control centers and IT, configuring DMS apps like FLISR and Load Scheduling, and developing documentation for projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering and technical services supporting Eversource's electric grid operations and modernization
• Support electric system operators by optimizing distribution systems using DMS advanced functionality, including AFR, LVM, Planned Outage Study, and DER/Load Forecasting
• Serve as a subject matter expert in ADMS, SCADA, DER dispatching, energy storage, microgrids, Volt/Var Optimization, and load shedding
• Collaborate with system operations control centers, IT, and engineering resources on DMS functionality and enhancements
• Specify and configure DMS advanced applications such as FLISR, LVM, AFR, and Load and Generation Scheduling
• Develop project approval documentation covering need statements, scope, technical solutions, alternatives, risks, budget, and schedule
• Investigate new industry technologies and assess their value for system operations control rooms
• Develop tools and methods to process and organize data for engineering models and databases
• Support multidisciplinary grid modernization teams across MA, CT, and NH
• Communicate grid modernization initiatives externally and participate in industry forums
• Act on behalf of the Lead Engineer when absent and advocate for forward-looking initiatives

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology required
• Minimum of five (5) years in the technical, operational, or engineering aspects of the electrical utility industry
• Thorough understanding of electrical engineering concepts including load flow, stability, voltage regulation, power factor, losses, and load and generation modeling
• Experience modeling electric distribution systems
• Ability to manipulate data from large datasets to provide specific engineering results
• Thorough knowledge of DMS, OMS, GIS, SCADA, EMS, and Synergi/Cyme
• Basic understanding of communication systems and protocols such as DNP used in SCADA control systems
• Strong analytical skills, including experience using qualitative tools in strategic development
• Demonstrated business development aptitude and strong presentation skills
• Strong leadership skills and proficiency in oral and written communications
• Must be available to work emergency restoration assignments as required
• Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary
• Occasional to significant travel by car may be required
• Valid driver's license required
