Job summary

SB Energy, a SoftBank Group company, is hiring a Sr. Energy Storage Engineer in Redwood City, CA. This role focuses on energy storage design, optimization, and permitting for utility-scale projects, with independence and cross-functional collaboration.

You will lead technical reviews, support EPC and operations teams, and coordinate with utilities and authorities to ensure compliant, cost-effective solutions. Remote options may be available for suitable candidates.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of experience in utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
• ABET-accredited degree in Electrical Engineering; MS and PE preferred
• Experience delivering projects through full lifecycle: engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, operations

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering design, optimization, and permitting of utility-scale energy storage projects
• Review EPC deliverables and drive design optimization for cost, schedule, reliability
• Develop electrical designs, site layouts, one-line diagrams, and balance of plant (BOP)
• Lead selection of batteries, PCS, transformers, EMS, BMS, SCADA and related systems
• Coordinate with utilities, AHJs, and EPCs during interconnection and commissioning
