Job summary

Medtronic Canada is seeking a Principal Employee Relations Specialist to serve as the primary ER contact for Manufacturing & Commercial employees in Canada and support select US groups. You will advise leaders and employees on performance management, disciplinary processes, investigations, restructuring, and other ER matters, ensuring fair application of policies and proactive culture improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with minimum of 7 years of relevant HR experience OR Advanced degree and minimum of 5 years of relevant HR experience
  • Bilingual (French and English) - REQUIRED
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Provincial Labour Legislation

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for intake, assessment, and management of employee complaints and concerns, determining next steps and ensuring resolution per policy and law.
  • Counsels and partners with employees and management on the full spectrum of ER matters, aligning with practices, policies, and local labor law.
  • Proactive workplace initiatives, investigations, performance improvement and discipline processes, end of employment/restructuring, labor relations, crisis management, and coaching.
  • Develops and leads proactive ER strategies to foster a positive work environment using data to address opportunities and minimize risk.
  • Leads restructuring initiatives resulting in employee transitions.
  • Partners with HR COEs to address escalated recruitment, leave management, organizational design, and other HR escalations.
  • Ensures cases are documented in ServiceNow and escalated to the ER/HR Director as required.
  • Translates data and insights into actionable recommendations and strategies.
  • Leads or supports ER/HR projects and change initiatives across Operations, Commercial and Americas ER teams.
  • Responsible for reporting complaints and ADR (adverse drug reactions) where applicable.
