Job summary

Gusto, a leading People Platform, seeks an experienced Employee Relations Partner to advise frontline managers and collaborate with Legal and People teams on high-stakes employee matters. You will resolve sensitive workplace issues, mediate conversations, and guide disciplinary actions in a fast-paced, AI-enabled environment.

You’ll coach managers on performance expectations, support the design of performance plans and offboarding, maintain compliant documentation, and surface systemic risks for

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years in an HR Generalist role or 2 years in Employee Relations or HR Business Partner role.
• Experience handling complex, sensitive ER matters with discretion and sound judgment.
• Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and industry trends.
• Excellent coaching/mentoring skills to guide managers effectively.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities for collaboration with diverse teams.
• Analytical skills to interpret ER metrics and propose insights.

Responsibilities

• Address employee concerns, resolve workplace conflicts, and promote an inclusive environment through investigations, disciplinary actions, and mediation.
• Coach managers on performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and address development needs.
• Facilitate implementation of performance management plans and offboarding.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HR regulations and ensure policy compliance.
• Partner with Legal and People Partners to assess risk and determine actions on escalated cases.
• Identify patterns across cases and surface systemic risks to leadership.
