Job summary

Gusto in Denver seeks an Employee Relations Partner to serve as a trusted adviser to managers and the People Team. The role focuses on navigating complex, high-stakes employee matters with sound judgment and care, partnering with Legal and People Partners to resolve sensitive issues.

You will help foster performance enablement, inclusivity, and respect, contributing to Gusto’s global People Platform focus while supporting a hybrid workplace model with some in-office days.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of experience in Employee Relations or HRBP role
• Experience handling complex ER matters with discretion and sound judgment under pressure
• Ability to balance multiple stakeholder interests with fairness and equity
• Experience collaborating with Legal on escalated employee issues
• Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and industry trends
• Proven coaching and mentoring skills for managers
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for cross-functional collaboration
• Strong analytical skills to interpret ER metrics and derive insights

Responsibilities

• Address employee concerns and workplace conflicts through investigations and action plans
• Coach managers on performance expectations, feedback, and development needs
• Maintain knowledge of HR regulations and ensure policy compliance
• Partner with Legal and People Partners to assess risk and determine next steps
• Navigate ambiguous, high-stakes employee situations with sound judgment
• Maintain thorough, defensible ER documentation across cases
• Identify patterns across cases and surface systemic risks to leadership
