Job summary

Katalyst Space in Colorado is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain firmware for microcontroller- and processor-based systems used in space operations.

You will work with C/C++ and Python, develop drivers for SPI/I2C/UART/CAN, and collaborate on board bring-up, tests, and robust software development. The role offers stock options, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities in mission-critical systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field is required.
• 5+ years of embedded software or embedded systems experience.
• Strong proficiency in C++ and Python.
• Experience with SPI, I2C, UART, CAN or similar interfaces.
• Hands-on lab experience with test equipment and board bring-up.
• Experience writing unit tests and automated tests.
• Git or modern VCS proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software for microcontroller- and processor-based systems.
• Develop production-quality firmware in C and C++ for bare-metal and RTOS-based apps.
• Create Python tools for test automation, hardware interfacing, data processing, and engineering workflows.
• Develop and integrate drivers for SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, ADC, PWM, GPIO, and other peripherals.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers during board bring-up and hardware integration.
• Debug hardware/software issues using scopes and analyzers; perform real-time monitoring and control.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and system testing (HIL/SIL).
