Job summary

Katalyst Space Technologies in Colorado is seeking a software engineer to help design, develop, and operate spacecraft software, including flight software, embedded and real-time systems, autonomy, simulation, and ground systems.

You will own well-scoped software problems from requirements through deployment, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to mission-ready software in a hands-on environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree completed or expected in a technical field.
  • Strong grounding in data structures/algorithms and embedded/real-time software.
  • Hands-on software engineering experience through internships, research, student projects, or prior employment.
  • Ability to break down complex software problems and design architectures or algorithms.
  • Clear written and verbal technical communication.
  • Willingness to work hands-on in office/lab and to handle extended hours when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to design, development, integration, test, and operation of spacecraft software.
  • Own software problems from requirements through deployment with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Work with flight/embedded software, Linux, C/C++, Python, simulators, and hardware-in-the-loop interfaces.
  • Participate in design reviews, integration, anomaly investigations, and mission-readiness activities.
  • Collaborate with GNC, electrical, mechanical, propulsion, systems, and mission-ops teams.
  • Document interfaces, architecture, test results, procedures, and decisions for reuse and review.
