Job summary

Katalyst Space is hiring in Colorado for an engineer to own robotics flight software end to end on real hardware. You will write C++ and Python to command actuators, integrate vision data, and validate on hardware-in-the-loop benches before flight. Collaboration with GNC, avionics, and operations is essential.

We value hands-on problem solving, bring-up skills, and a track record with hardware and software integration; ITAR eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Strong C++ on real systems and Python proficiency.
• Hands-on bring-up and instrumentation debugging experience.
• Experience with serial buses (CAN, RS-422, SPI/I2C, Ethernet).
• Ability to reason, data-driven decisions, defend choices.
• BS in engineering, computer science, robotics, or mechatronics.
• US person (ITAR) eligible.

Responsibilities

• Own robotics-facing flight software end to end.
• Write modern C++ and Python to control actuators, arms, gimbals, and mechanisms.
• Take pose from camera to control loop and gate vision data.
• Validate on hardware-in-the-loop bench and flatsat before flight.
• Collaborate with GNC, avionics, and operations and defend design decisions.
