Job summary

Wabtec Corporation in Melbourne, FL is seeking a senior embedded software engineer to design, develop, test, integrate, and maintain embedded software for LOCOTROL products. You will primarily work in C/C++ on RTOS and bare-metal platforms, contributing across the full development lifecycle and collaborating with PMs, systems engineers, and test teams.

Ideal candidates have 15+ years of embedded experience, strong grasp of data structures and software design, willingness to travel, and

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
Minimum 15 years embedded software development experience in RTOS and bare metal environments.
Experience writing multi-process / multi-threaded programs in C/C++.
Strong understanding of software design, methods, and architectural approaches.
Knowledge of data structures, algorithms and software engineering principles.
Willing to travel 10% of time.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain embedded software components, systems and their networks.
Provide technical mentoring for junior engineers as needed.
Design and implement software for embedded systems from requirements through deployment.
Program in C and C++ for all applications, components and interfaces.
Maintain and enhance software in existing products and systems.
Collaborate with business units and other engineering teams to meet product specs and interfaces.
Drive performance and reliability improvements.
