Job summary

Wabtec Corporation is seeking an embedded software engineer to join the LOCOTROL software team in Melbourne, FL. You will design, develop, integrate, test, and maintain embedded software for locomotive control systems using C/C++ across RTOS and bare-metal environments.

The role emphasizes collaboration with PMs, system engineers, and test teams, with a 10% travel expectation. Experience with DDS, Yocto, C++23, CMake, and GTest is desired, along with modern development workflows such as GitLab

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
Minimum of 4 years developing embedded software in both RTOS and bare metal environments.
Experience writing multi-process / multi-threaded programs using C or C++.
Strong understanding of software design, methods, and architectural approaches.
Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
Willing and able to travel 10% of your time.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain embedded software for LOCOTROL product portfolios.
Design, develop, integrate, test, and maintain embedded software applications in C/C++.
Collaborate with PMs, System Engineers and Architects, and test teams.
Provide technical mentoring for junior engineers.
Design and implement software for embedded systems from requirements analysis through production.
