Job summary

Wabtec Corporation is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to design, develop, integrate, test, and maintain software for LOCOTROL products. The role focuses on C/C++ development across RTOS and bare-metal environments, with exposure to Yocto, GTest, DOORS Next, and GitLab tooling. Travel up to 10% is expected.

Primary work involves Next Gen platforms integration with RCS products, delivering reliable, high-performance software for freight locomotive control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Minimum 15 years embedded software development in RTOS and bare metal environments.
• Experience writing multi-process / multi-threaded programs in C/C++.
• Solid understanding of software design, methods and architectures.
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms and software engineering principles.
• Willing to travel up to 10% of time.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain software components, systems and networks.
• Provide technical mentoring for junior software engineers.
• Design and implement software for embedded systems from requirements to production.
• Program in C and C++ for applications, components and interfaces.
• Maintain and enhance software in existing products and systems.
• Collaborate with business unit to ensure requirements are met.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure interfaces are correct.
• Design, implement and test software ensuring quality specs are met.
• Participate in design and code reviews and drive performance improvements.
• Interact with customers and partners in technical discussions.
• Develop documentation including SW design, requirements, and architectures.
