Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. in the United States, Moorpark area, seeks a Senior Software Engineer (Embedded) to develop software for unmanned and robotic systems. You will design, code, test and debug embedded software for devices used in flight tests and real-world environments.

Responsibilities include integrating sensors, developing drivers, validating software, and supporting rapid prototyping and production transitions. Some travel and potential security clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• BS degree in CS/Engineering or related field required
• 5–8 years of relevant experience
• Expert with Python, C, C++11, C++ STL and/or OpenCL
• Knowledge of Visual Studio, Eclipse or similar IDE and defect tracking tools
• Experience with common protocols RS-485, RS-232, CAN, I2C, SPI, USB
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• Periodic travel for testing equipment

Responsibilities

• Writes and tests software to support integration of sensors and embedded processors into aircraft or robotic systems
• Designs and implements software for prototypes and products using AeroVironment tools; ensures configuration control
• Assists in writing system requirements, test plans, diagnostics, and validation testing
• Estimates development effort and milestones with project management
• Provides progress updates and milestone dates to meet schedule
• Troubleshoots complex systems with hardware diagnostics; supports flight test operations
• Supports transition of development software to production and certification
• Develops proof of concept demonstrations and participates in design reviews
• Tackles complex problems with applied analysis and method selection
