Job summary

General Motors LLC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and deliver production automotive embedded software for MCUs and SoCs, connecting vehicle signals and real-time controls to driver-facing alerts and services.

You will define interfaces, data flows, and boundaries across in-vehicle compute domains, ensuring safety, determinism, and reliability throughout the vehicle lifecycle, while mentoring peers and collaborating with multiple engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience developing and shipping embedded software for production products.
• Strong C/C++ development experience on both microcontroller and SoC-based platforms.
• Demonstrated system design and software architecture skills, including decomposition of broad requirements into components, interfaces, and executable technical plans.
• Experience with real-time or resource-constrained MCU software, such as RTOS applications, board-support packages, device drivers, peripherals, or low-level communication stacks.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop production automotive embedded systems spanning MCU firmware and SoC software using C/C++.
• Translate vehicle-level requirements into software architectures, including interfaces and data flows.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on architecture decisions, latency, memory, and safety trade-offs.
• Write clean, well-documented C/C++ code following embedded standards and practices.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to system-design discussions.
