Job summary

General Motors seeks an experienced Senior Software Engineer to advance display solutions for high-compute SoCs in automotive platforms. You will design, implement, and validate embedded software and drivers for display systems, collaborating with hardware, software services, and SoC vendors to ensure robust, production-grade software.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in embedded development, Linux-based displays, and C/C++, with knowledge of display interfaces and safety-critical practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Experience with Linux-based embedded OS and drivers.
• Experience with display software, drivers, or hardware.
• Strong C/C++ programming for embedded systems.
• Knowledge of Ethernet, I2C, SPI, and UART.
• Familiar with DRM/KMS, DMA, V4L2, and device trees.
• Experience with bring-up, validation, and system-level testing of SoCs.
• Experience with DisplayPort, HDMI, or MIPI DSI is a plus.
• Automotive or safety-critical software experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded software and device drivers for automotive display systems.
• Develop software features on Linux to control powering, configuration, and activation of display devices and processes.
• Participate in full software development lifecycle: requirements, design, implementation, testing, integration.
• Collaborate with hardware and systems teams for seamless integration of display software.
• Optimize performance, memory usage, startup time, and power efficiency for high-performance embedded systems.
• Contribute to production-quality software following best practices for automotive and safety-critical domains.
