Job summary

General Motors is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer for the Display Software team to design and implement embedded Linux-based display solutions on high‑compute SoC platforms.

You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver drivers, platforms, and test procedures for automotive display systems with a focus on performance, reliability, and safety-critical constraints.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in embedded software development.
• Experience with Linux-based embedded operating systems.
• Experience developing or integrating display software, device drivers, or display hardware.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded systems.
• Familiarity with ARM architectures and embedded peripherals.
• Knowledge of Ethernet, I2C, SPI, and UART.
• Linux kernel frameworks including DRM/KMS, DMA, V4L2, and device trees.
• Experience deploying commercial embedded systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded software and drivers for automotive display systems.
• Develop Linux software controlling powering, configuration, and activation of display devices.
• Participate in requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and integration.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure seamless software/hardware integration.
• Optimize performance, memory usage, startup time, and power for high-performance systems.
• Contribute to production-quality software following automotive safety practices.
