Job summary

RTX BBN Technologies in Middletown, RI, seeks a Senior Software Engineer with strong real-time embedded C development. You will design, implement and test high-performance software on embedded platforms, interfacing with hardware and RTOS environments.

The role requires 8+ years of hands-on experience, a DoD Secret clearance, and the ability to travel up to 15%. Onsite at Middletown HQ with opportunities to work on multi-disciplinary teams and cutting-edge defense programs.

Qualifications

Typically requires a degree in STEM and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree with minimum 3 years of experience; in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
Active and transferable Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance is required on day one.
Experience including at least two of the following: Embedded C/C++ Software, High Performance Computer Systems, Embedded Real-Time Sensors and Control Applications, Software Architecture Design and Implementation.
Experience using embedded Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) such as Green Hills, Integrity, Wind River VxWorks, Linux, etc.
Experience developing complex systems involving hardware, firmware, and software integration.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, implement, test, debug and integrate high performance embedded real-time software within heterogeneous systems.
Collaborate with a cross-functional team to test contributions and analyze performance.
Integrate components into a larger system in preparation for real world testing and deployment.
Teach, coach, and mentor less experienced staff.
Contribute to proposals as well as design reviews.
Travel up to 15%.
