Job summary

Hire Consulting Services is seeking a hands-on Embedded OS Engineer to own the Ubuntu-based Linux firmware stack on our MK2 drone platform (Qualcomm QRB5165). You will build the OS, keep it secure, and ship it through automated CI/CD pipelines for headless devices.

This role requires deep work on Yocto/BitBake, BitBake recipes, and low-level OS internals, with a focus on reliability, security, and performance optimization across Jenkins-driven builds.

Qualifications

• Hands-on embedded OS engineer with Yocto/BitBake experience.
• Experience building Ubuntu-based firmware images for ARM64 devices.
• Familiar with CI/CD pipelines and automated builds.
• Strong debugging of build pipelines from do_fetch to do_image.
• Security hardening and minimal attack surface in rootfs.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain the Yocto-based build system and image recipes.
• Create and manage patches against upstream BSP sources.
• Diagnose and fix BitBake task failures across the build pipeline.
• Improve build performance and reduce full-build times.
• Implement OS hardening, post-processing, and package management in rootfs.
• Maintain Jenkins pipelines and ensure build reproducibility.
• Configure system services and logging for headless embedded devices.
