Job summary

Ammortal Inc is hiring a senior software engineer to own the Chamber's application software on embedded Linux. You will interface with hardware over common protocols, help shape architectural decisions, and contribute to frontend work when needed.

The role offers hands-on ownership, opportunity for technical leadership, and a direct impact on how the Chamber evolves for users. Hybrid work with in-office collaboration required in Asheville, NC area.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience on Linux-based systems.
• Experience designing and shipping production software in a distributed architecture.
• Strong proficiency with Go, C, or C++ and exposure to high-level languages.
• Experience interfacing software with hardware over serial/bus protocols.
• Knowledge of Git and modern CI/CD practices.

Responsibilities

• Own design and development of embedded Linux Chamber application software.
• Lead architectural decisions for the microservices-based platform.
• Define and uphold engineering standards for code quality, testing, and deployment.
• Act as escalation point for complex customer and field issues.
• Maintain and extend early-gen Chamber software as needed.
• Contribute to frontend work to ship complete features.
• Collaborate with hardware, operations, and customer experience teams.
