Job summary

Humble Robotics is seeking an Embedded Engineer to craft safety‑critical, real‑time firmware for automotive ECUs. You’ll drive the full firmware lifecycle from bring‑up to production deployment and work closely with hardware, systems, and safety teams.

The role involves developing bootloaders, drivers, and middleware, implementing CAN, LIN, and Automotive Ethernet, and validating with unit and hardware‑in‑loop tests. You’ll contribute to a high‑velocity AV program in the SF Bay Area.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 3+ years of production embedded firmware in C/C++.
• Experience with 32‑bit ARM Cortex‑M or automotive‑grade MCUs.
• Experience developing custom HAL, drivers, and middleware on bare‑metal or lightweight RTOS.
• Working knowledge of safety‑rated Real‑Time Operating Systems.
• Experience with CAN, LIN and interfaces SPI, I2C, UART.
• Proficient with Git and a Linux development environment.
• Eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, debug, and test real‑time embedded firmware in C++ for automotive-grade MCUs.
• Develop and maintain bootloaders, low‑level drivers, middleware, and RTOS configurations.
• Implement automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN) and interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART).
• Collaborate with hardware engineers on schematic review, bring‑up, and co‑debugging.
• Manage reliable communications between compute and embedded platforms in the vehicle.
• Partner with Tier 1s to integrate vehicle components.
• Develop and execute unit, integration, and hardware‑in‑loop test strategies.
• Root‑cause board‑level and vehicle‑level issues in the field.
• Support manufacturing test development and vehicle software deployment.
