Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the LEAP team within the MacCready Works segment. You will implement video processing and perception pipelines for low-SWaP processors and integrate them into unmanned aerial systems, with testing and field experimentation.

The role requires strong C/C++ expertise, build system experience (CMake), and Python tooling, plus familiarity with Linux environments and software testing. Collaboration across teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering, Math, or Physics or equivalent experience.
• 5-8 years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Strong C/C++ with understanding of data structures, algorithms and OOP.
• Experience with CMake and modern C++ build systems; Python tooling.

Responsibilities

• Implements and optimizes computer vision/perception algorithms in C++ for low-SWaP processors.
• Supports testing and demonstration of components and systems.
• Develops documentation and reports for customers and stakeholders.
• Creates software design docs per process guidance; adheres to coding standards.
• Delivers work on time within schedule and budget; aids process improvements.
• Mentors less experienced engineers and collaborates across teams.
