Job summary

AV's MacCready Works LEAP team seeks a Senior Software Engineer to advance image/video processing and computer vision for low-SWaP embedded processors and UAS applications. You will implement, optimize, and validate perception pipelines in C++ and collaborate across programs to reuse software components.

You will contribute to build systems (CMake), testing, and documentation, while guiding less experienced engineers and delivering results on schedule in a fast-paced, defense-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical field.
• 5–8 years of software engineering experience.
• Strong C/C++ skills with data structures knowledge.
• Experience with CMake and modern C++.
• Python for tooling and prototyping.
• Experience with Ubuntu/CentOS Linux.
• Experience writing unit tests and debugging.
• Familiarity with DDS, gRPC; Rust preferred.
• Collaborative with external developers and customers.
• Analytical and mathematical reasoning skills.

Responsibilities

• Implements and optimizes computer vision and perception algorithms in C++, targeting low-SWaP embedded processors.
• Supports testing and demonstration of components and integrated systems.
• Develops documentation, reports, and customer-facing inputs.
• Creates software design documentation per process guidance.
• Implements coding to standards; writes tests and validates software.
• Delivers work on time per project schedule and budget.
• Supports algorithm design from detailed software requirements.
• Collaborates with other developers to reuse software across programs.
• Mentors less experienced engineers.
• Deals with problems of moderate scope and builds internal/external relationships.
