Job summary

Union Pacific Railroad is seeking a Senior Electronic Technician to repair, maintain, and install VHF, UHF, and licensed microwave radio transmission systems across the UP network. You will support voice and data connectivity and ensure real-time data collection for operations.

The role requires hands-on maintenance of radios, terrestrial microwave links, SCADA radios, and network gear, with emphasis on safety, independent problem solving, and timely restoration of service to keep trains running

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and basic computer skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to follow safety rules and work safely.
• Willingness to work independently or with others.
• Able to perform basic arithmetic and interpret data tables.
• Ability to plan, organize, and track tasks.
• Understanding of basic mechanical principles.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain telecommunications facilities in your territory.
• Install and service radios and microwave systems.
• Troubleshoot RF transmission lines and antennas.
• Respond to service restoration calls and weather-related damages.
• Provide support for internal customer devices.
• Prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
