Job summary

Union Pacific Railroad is seeking a Signal System Technician to ensure safe and efficient railroad operations. You will conduct signal system testing in accordance with FRA and UP requirements, and lead installation, repair, and maintenance of signals and grade crossing devices.

The role requires a valid driver's license, ability to interpret technical information, and strong safety awareness. You will work in a team, outdoors as needed, and must pass an English assessment before interviews.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics and FRA/UPRR requirements.
  • Computer literacy and basic keyboarding skills.
  • Must complete an English assessment before interview.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect signal circuitry, equipment, and systems for defects.
  • Test signal circuits per FRA reporting requirements.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions in signaling systems.
  • Install, repair, and maintain railroad signals and crossing devices.
  • Lead excavation work for installation purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with FRA and railroad safety rules.
