Job summary

Union Pacific Railroad is seeking a Signal System Technician to join our Engineering team. You will lead testing and inspection of signal systems to ensure FRA and UP requirements are met while installing, repairing and maintaining railroad signals and crossing devices.

The role requires converting complex technical information into actionable steps, operating safely in all conditions, and coordinating with colleagues and contractors.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to read, interpret and record both technical and non-technical information.
  • Demonstrate good communication and computer skills.
  • Commitment to safety rules and safe work habits.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections of signal circuitry, equipment and systems.
  • Perform testing of signal systems per FRA requirements.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions in signal circuitry and equipment.
  • Assemble and disassemble signal crossing warning devices as needed.
  • Carry out maintenance, repair and replacement tasks for signaling systems.
  • Plan, organize and track signal equipment information and activities.
