Job summary

WSP USA in Denver seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer focused on Protective Relaying to join our ESSP team. The role encompasses design, engineering, and studies of protection systems for bulk power equipment, including substations and renewables.

You will contribute to protection analyses, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with projects needing SCADA integration and standards compliance. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited).
• 10+ years of post-education experience in protective relaying projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain one.
• Occasional travel may be required.
• Proven safety compliance with policies.

Responsibilities

• Lead protective relaying design, settings development, and SCADA integration.
• Perform protection analyses: short circuit, time-current coordination, arc flash, and NERC compliance.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Support data acquisition through onsite visits and client discussions.
• Apply IEEE/ANSI/NERC PRC standards across projects.
• Coordinate across teams to meet scope, schedule, and budget.
