Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Commercial & Industrial team, supporting the design of large power systems, relay upgrades, and life-extension projects that power communities and critical infrastructure.

You will provide technical leadership across project phases, mentor others, and bridge knowledge gaps from concept through commissioning, while maintaining safety and quality across multiple clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering from ABET-accredited institution, preferred with a focus on power systems.
• PE License required.
• 5+ years of design engineering experience on primary power distribution, P&C schemes, and/or electrical equipment.
• Experience developing relay protective setpoints and settings files.
• Working knowledge of NEC/NFPA 70, ANSI C57, ANSI C37, and NESC in substation and industrial power design.
• 5 years of AutoCAD experience.
• 5 years using power systems modeling software such as ETAP, SKM, and/or EasyPower.

Responsibilities

• Medium and low voltage design including substations, transformers, protection and control schemes, and monitoring.
• Specification development for medium and low voltage equipment.
• Collaborate with CAD staff on electrical drawings and schematics.
• Perform short circuit, arc flash studies, and review power monitoring data.
