Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to drive complex mechanical designs for power switchgear, electrical bus, substations, and related components. You will coordinate with customers and engineers to meet design requirements and lead junior engineers on projects.

The role emphasizes hands-on design in SolidWorks, adherence to NEC/NESC/IEEE standards, and collaboration across internal teams to ensure project success and timely deliveries.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required.
• 5 years of experience with product modifications and customization; switchgear knowledge preferred.
• Experience in Low Voltage and Medium Voltage electrical equipment design using SolidWorks.
• Knowledge of NESC, NEC, UL, IEEE, and other applicable codes and standards.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a changing environment.

Responsibilities

• Design complex 3D models and create assembly drawings.
• Lead field measurements for design modifications and installations.
• Reverse-engineer equipment and components as needed.
• Coordinate with customers and engineers to satisfy design requirements.
• Lead and develop junior mechanical engineers.
• Support quotes with material and technical estimates for projects.
• Assist with on-site equipment installation or provide remote support.
• Prepare correspondence and manage data entry and reporting tasks.
