Qualus Corporation in Kentucky is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support engineering projects from concept through completion, ensuring compliance with company practices and industry standards.

The role centers on complex mechanical designs for power switchgear, electrical bus, and substations, coordinating with customers and engineers to satisfy design requirements while leading junior engineers and assisting with site installations or remote support.

Qualifications

• BS degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
• Five years of experience with product modifications and customization; switchgear knowledge preferred.
• Ability to communicate with internal, client and regulatory counterparts.
• Knowledge of NESC, NEC, UL, IEEE codes and standards.
• Experience designing low/medium voltage electrical equipment using SolidWorks.
• Willingness to learn and operate client-provided programs and systems.

Responsibilities

• Design complex models in 3D modeling environments.
• Create assembly drawings from 3D renderings.
• Lead field measurements for design modifications and installations.
• Perform reverse-engineering of equipment and components.
• Design parts with manufacturing specifications.
• Conduct calculations for forces on bus and bracing.
• Assist with site equipment installation or provide remote support.
• Review specifications and RFPs to ensure alignment.
• Mentor junior mechanical engineers.
• Support recruitment and provide feedback in evaluations.
• Participate in weekly Production Meetings.
• Assist quoting with material estimates and technical requirements.
