Job summary

Blue Origin Engines in Seattle, WA seeks a Manager of Electrical Engineering to lead a small, high-impact team delivering end-to-end electrical engineering solutions. You will set priorities, allocate resources across competing demands, and personally engage in high-risk technical decisions under senior leadership.

The role focuses on power distribution, motor/generator systems, instrumentation and controls, with emphasis on AI-enabled tooling, safety practices like LOTO, and cross-functional

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • 8+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience with technical leadership
  • 2+ years of experience directly managing engineers
  • Experience with low- and medium-voltage systems
  • Knowledge of motors, generators, and facility power systems
  • Experience with instrumentation and controls including VFDs
  • Hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis
  • Familiarity with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and de-energization
  • Experience leading teams in dynamic environments
  • Excellent communication skills with leadership
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
  • Proficiency using AI tools in engineering workflows

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a team of Electrical Engineers (4-8 direct reports)
  • Set team priorities and allocate resources across demands
  • Escalation point for technical disagreements and cross-functional coordination
  • Mentor and develop team through targeted skill development and delegation
  • Represent team capacity to senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Provide technical direction for power distribution, motors, instrumentation, and controls
  • Engage in complex technical problems and apply depth where needed
  • Collaborate with operations, manufacturing, test, and partners
  • Ensure documentation supports traceability and configuration control
  • Oversee safety practices (LOTO, de-energization) and compliance
