Job summary

Blue Origin in Washington state seeks a Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers developing structural, fluid handling, and thermal control subassemblies for power generation equipment. You will own staff management, technical standards, and cost/mass reduction initiatives, reporting to the EPS Director.

The role emphasizes leadership, roadmap development, supplier interaction, and coordinating with cross‑functional teams to deliver flight‑ready hardware for lunar transport

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical, Physics, or Aerospace engineering (or equivalent).
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience managing technical teams and/or leading functional groups.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in aerospace or automotive industry.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary development projects with requirements, priorities, scope, schedule, and cost.
  • Experience managing suppliers of highly engineered components.
  • Experience with static structural, modal, random vibration, thermal, and fluid analyses.
  • History of communicating status, design concepts, and technical results effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, hire, manage, and mentor a team of engineers.
  • Take responsibility for people, processes, and tools for best‑in‑class performance.
  • Plan staffing to projects and reconcile needs with staff capabilities.
  • Coordinate with the Director to add staff or contract labor when needed.
  • Lead design risk analyses, DFx, and root-cause analysis of test discrepancies.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to direct reports.
