Job summary

WSP USA seeks a Senior Consultant, Electrical Engineer in Baltimore, MD to lead electrical design efforts for substations, distribution, and renewable energy projects within the Mid-Atlantic Transportation Team.

You will guide data collection, equipment sizing, protective relaying, and inter-disciplinary coordination with owners and clients. The role requires delivering quality design work meeting industry standards and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5 to 7 years of relevant post-education experience as an electrical engineer providing design deliverables for large projects.

Responsibilities

• Determine well-defined methods for collecting, compiling, and analyzing data relating to substation components, equipment specifications for procurement package development and pricing, IFR/IRC detailed design and review processes, and IEEE/NESC Standards/NERC regulations for design work.
• Review and advise on third-party design documents, procurement lists, and project plans.
• Perform professional electrical engineering work relating to single line, three line, wiring diagrams, substation layouts, grounding grid design, and protective relaying per applicable standards.
• Develop electrical calculations for loads, equipment sizing, grounding potentials, short circuit studies, and substation switchyard layouts.
• Prepare data visualizations, reports, calculations, and illustrations for data interpretation and presentations.
• Prepare technical reports and findings to address design and construction issues or opportunities.
• Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients professionally, and stay current with latest electrical engineering practices.
