Job summary

Torch Clean Energy is building an Engineering Team to design, optimize, and operate utility-scale PV and BESS projects from feasibility through commissioning and operations. The Electrical Engineer will perform hands-on analyses, evaluate technical tradeoffs, and develop tools to enable better project decisions for multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; PE license preferred; candidates without PE can be considered with licensure within 6 months.
• Strong organizational and project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present technical recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving, collaborative environment and travel to project sites ~20%.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the electrical engineering subject matter expert across utility-scale energy projects.
• Develop conceptual, preliminary, and targeted engineering designs for project value, risk reduction, or decision-making.
• Perform internal engineering analyses focused on feasibility, constructability, cost optimization, risk reduction, and due diligence.
• Evaluate PV and BESS systems to optimize project value, reliability, and long-term performance.
• Collaborate with development, EPC, procurement, finance, construction, and operations teams to identify risks and design improvements early in development.
• Review EPC and consultant deliverables for quality, constructability, and compliance with requirements.
