Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA seeks an Electrical Engineer to support nuclear radiation characterization testing for defense-electronics systems. You will design, test, and troubleshoot electrical hardware, evaluate radiation effects on MOSFETs, DC/DC converters, FPGAs, and DDR memory, and lead test programs to ensure robust product performance.

Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain DoD Top Secret clearance.
  • Typically requires STEM degree and 8+ years experience or advanced degree and 5+ years.
  • Electrical testing experience: test design, troubleshooting, execution, analysis, and reporting.
  • Circuit design: schematic capture, PCB layout, and design guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, document, test and troubleshoot electrical hardware.
  • Evaluate radiation response of MOSFETs, DC/DC converters, FPGAs, and DDR memory.
  • Advise parts selection based on test data.
  • Develop test plans and reports.
  • Lead program personnel through test procedures to meet cost and schedule constraints.
  • Execute radiation effects testing events with external facilities (up to 25% travel).
  • Serve as technical reference on radiation effects.
  • Drive improvements to radiation test capabilities in alignment with industry best practices.
