Job summary

KFI Engineers in Fargo, ND seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design for large central energy projects from concept through startup. You will design power distribution, MV/480V systems, and building power and lighting, performing studies and coordinating with teams.

Role includes reviewing submittals, supporting proposals, mentoring staff, and client engagement. Travel up to 25% may be required. 10+ years’ experience and PE (or pursuit) preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of Electrical Engineering experience.
• PE registration or willingness to pursue this designation.
• Experience in electrical utility generation and distribution systems.
• Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, NESC, ANSI/IEEE codes.
• Ability to build client relationships and communicate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Designs and supports power distribution systems (primary requirement).
• Designs medium-voltage and 480V power systems for industrial, utility, and building applications.
• Designs building power and lighting systems including critical components.
• Performs power system studies using SKM PTW.
• Prepares engineering documents and equipment specifications.
• Reviews contractor and vendor submittals and equipment selections.
• Creates project plans and schedules; develops labor and cost estimates.
• Coordinates work with other departments, customers, and subcontractors.
• Provides construction observation, startup and commissioning support.
