Job summary

KFI Engineers in Minnesota seeks an Electrical Engineer II to lead design for medium voltage and 480V power systems, and to develop studies, drawings and specifications from concept through startup.

You will collaborate with project managers, engineers and clients to ensure clear communication, manage scope and budgets, and deliver high‑quality electrical solutions while supporting business development and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology.
  • Minimum 3+ years of Electrical Engineering experience.
  • Strong electrical design expertise across various industries.
  • Proven knowledge of NEC, NFPA, NESC, ANSI/IEEE standards.
  • Ability to lead and influence stakeholders.
  • Proven client relationship skills and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proficient with MS Office.
  • US work authorization without sponsorship.
  • Travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

  • Design for medium voltage and 480-volt power systems, including generation and distribution.
  • Prepare drawings, specifications, calculations, and reports.
  • Perform power system studies (arc flash, short circuit, load flow, coordination, harmonics) using SKM PTW.
  • Review contractor submittals and provide site support during startup and commissioning.
  • Develop labor/cost estimates and manage scope/budget.
  • Create project plans and schedules; may serve as project manager.
  • Support business development through proposals and client meetings.
  • Provide technical support to other departments.
