Job summary

KFI Engineers is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for the Utilities & Central Energy group in Cincinnati, OH. You will lead design of power distribution, MV systems, and building electrical systems from concept to startup.

The role requires 10+ years of experience, PE licensure or pursuit, and strong communication with clients. Travel up to 25% may be required. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or similar related field.
• Minimum of 10+ years of Electrical Engineering experience.
• Professional Engineering registration or willingness to pursue this designation.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the design of electrical utility generation and distribution systems.
• Proven project experience and/or working knowledge of Process, Instrumentation, and Controls.
• Comprehensive understanding of Electrical, Mechanical, Architectural, Civil and Structural Engineering construction practices.
• In-depth knowledge of industry codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, NESC, ANSI/IEEE, etc.).
• Proven ability to build strong client relationships and establish credibility with internal and external stakeholders.
• Travel: May include up to 25% domestic travel.

Responsibilities

• Designs and supports power distribution systems (primary requirement).
• Designs medium‑voltage and 480‑volt power systems for industrial, utility, and building applications.
• Designs building power and lighting systems with protective devices, UPS, and related systems.
• Performs power system studies (load flow, short‑circuit, arc‑flash).
• Prepares engineering documents and equipment specifications to meet scope and codes.
• Reviews contractor submittals and equipment selections.
• Creates project plans and schedules for execution of work.
• Develops labor and cost estimates and manages scope and budget.
