Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks an electrical engineer to join our Nuclear Power Group in a project team setting. You will design, analyze, and modify electrical systems for existing nuclear plants, coordinating with other disciplines and clients to ensure scope, schedule, and budget compliance.

Your responsibilities span design change packages, calculations, vendor interactions, site walkdowns, and field verification, with opportunities for travel to client sites and construction locations.

Qualifications

• Electrical engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program.
• Five+ years’ experience in electrical engineering design for industrial projects, with focus on existing nuclear plants.
• Experience selecting equipment, preparing design change packages, calculations, and specs.
• Electrical system design experience including low/medium voltage distribution.
• Effective written and verbal communication to project team and client.
• Detail oriented approach to work and ability to badge for unescorted access.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review engineering design change packages to install or upgrade plant equipment.
• Prepare and review detailed calculations: AC/DC studies, short circuit, cable ampacity, voltage drop, breaker coordination, motor starting, protective relays.
• Prepare and review equipment procurement specifications.
• Participate in bid reviews and respond to vendor questions.
• Prepare scoping documents for conceptual designs and constructability reviews.
• Interface with other engineering disciplines and the client team.
• Attend client meetings and site walkdowns; travel to client/vendor offices and plant sites.
• Support site installation activities and assist project manager with schedule/budget.
• Lead status meetings, submit progress reports, track items, and coordinate deliverables.
