Job summary

Apptronik in Austin is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to design and build electronics for Apollo's sensor bridge, owning subsystems from schematic capture to RTL blocks in collaboration with perception and hardware teams.

The role emphasizes FPGA RTL development, high-speed interfaces, signal integrity, timing closure, and bring-up for production in a fast-paced robotics environment, with travel up to 10% within the US.

Qualifications

  • Experience in FPGA hardware design for time-sensitive, high-performance applications.
  • RTL development in VHDL and/or Verilog.
  • High-speed interface design (CSI-2, GMSL/SerDes, Ethernet, PCIe, or comparable).
  • Timing closure, clock-domain crossing, and resource optimization.
  • Integration of high-speed transceivers and external PHY devices.
  • FPGA tool flows and simulation tools such as Vivado, Quartus, ModelSim/Questa.
  • Strong understanding of signal integrity, impedance control, and differential routing.
  • Experience with camera/image sensor hardware and ISP integration is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and hands-on debugging skills.

Responsibilities

  • Electronics & FPGA design execution from schematic capture to RTL implementation.
  • Design high-speed interfaces and ensure proper power sequencing and EMC considerations.
  • Develop RTL for CSI-2 ingest, Ethernet packetization, and synchronization logic.
  • Validate subsystems with test fixtures and lab equipment, and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers.
  • Support lifecycle management with vendors and contract manufacturers.
