Job summary
HDR is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer focused on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to help shape reliable, resilient power infrastructure in Minnesota and beyond. You’ll develop layouts, one-line diagrams, and detailed designs while coordinating with civil, high‑voltage, SCADA, and geotechnical teams.
You will also prepare technical reports, perform QA/QC on documents, and support clients through design reviews and construction phases.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with an electrical focus and PE licensure.
- Minimum 10 years in design of BESS, power generation, renewables, or distribution.
- Experience with NEC/IEEE codes and related standards.
- Strong communication, technical writing, and client-support skills.
Responsibilities
- Design and review BESS electrical layouts, specs, and cost estimates.
- Support project work with developers, utilities and clients.
- Coordinate with civil, structural, FLS, HV, SCADA, water, and geotechnical teams.
- Prepare technical reports and conduct QA/QC on drawings and designs.
- Provide construction support, RFI responses and design updates.
