Job summary

HDR, Inc. seeks a senior electrical engineer to advance our power and energy storage projects, shaping safe, resilient infrastructure.

You will design and review BESS layouts, one-line diagrams, and construction packages, coordinating with civil, mechanical, and control teams.

This role requires strong technical writing, client engagement, and travel up to 10% across the U.S., within HDR’s employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required by licensing board.
• Experience in Power Market Sector project execution is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support grid scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects from concept to construction design packages.
• Analyze energy storage technologies and support vendor selection.
• Develop design plans, specifications, costs, and construction documents at milestones.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, FLS, HV electrical, SCADA/telecom, water, and geotechnical engineers.
• Prepare written technical reports conveying BESS concepts and feasibility results.
• Assist in development of internal design guidelines, catalogs, and templates.
