Job summary

Applied Engineering is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join our remote team. You will lead electrical design and validation for major subsystems, own schematics and BOMs, and drive design reviews with cross-functional teams across North America.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering and about 5+ years of industrial experience in electrical design or electromechanical systems. Travel up to 20% within the USA is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required.
• ~5+ years of industrial experience in electrical design or electromechanical systems.
• Experience with power distribution, conversion, monitoring, controls, and system integration.
• Experience designing specs for switchgear, switchboards, transfer switches, loadbanks, and generators.
• Experience selecting and validating electrical components using NEC, UL, and derating criteria.
• Proven design documentation, reviews, testing, validation, and troubleshooting experience.
• Working knowledge of design standards, manufacturability, safety, and compliance practices.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulations for electrical power solutions.
• Ability to specify safe and effective prototype testing practices.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, ETAP, SKM, or similar tools.
• Proficiency with MS Office 365.
• Ability to travel up to 20% within the USA.
• ERP, PLM, and engineering data management systems familiarity preferred.
• Desire to work on a variety of projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design and validation for major subsystems and product areas.
• Translate system requirements into practical, robust electrical designs.
• Own schematics, drawings, calculations, specifications, and bills of material.
• Drive design reviews, trade studies, prototype builds, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with mechanical, systems, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and project teams.
• Mentor early-career engineers and reinforce electrical design standards.
• Support project planning, effort estimation, and execution.
• Contribute to projects that impact communities across North America.
