Job summary

Applied Engineering in the United States is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to lead designs and validation for major subsystems, translating requirements into robust electrical solutions while owning schematics, BOMs, and tests. This remote role offers collaboration with cross-functional teams and mentorship of early-career engineers.

The ideal candidate has a BS in EE, 5+ years in electrical design, strong knowledge of power distribution and NEC/UL criteria, and hands-on experience with

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering is required.
• 5+ years in electrical design or electromechanical systems.
• Strong knowledge of power distribution, conversion, monitoring and controls.
• Experience with switchgear, switchboards, transfer switches, loadbanks and generators.
• Experience with NEC, UL and derating criteria.
• Proven design documentation, reviews, testing, validation and troubleshooting.
• Familiar with design standards, safety and compliance practices.
• Ability to travel up to 20% within the USA.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design and validation for major subsystems and product areas.
• Translate system requirements into practical, robust electrical designs.
• Own schematics, drawings, calculations, specifications, and bills of material.
• Drive design reviews, trade studies, prototype builds, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with mechanical, systems, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and project teams.
• Mentor early‑career engineers and reinforce electrical design standards.
• Support project planning, effort estimation, and execution.
• Contribute to projects that impact communities across North America.
