- Provide engineering support for facility/project-related construction activities from conception through implementation to turnover
- Coordinate design and construction activities and resolve design problems
- Recommend and review design changes
- Perform material takeoffs, develop BOMs/MSRs, track materials, and verify received materials
- Support walkdowns, work package planning, hazard identification, hazard analysis, and mitigation planning
- Support design planning meetings, conceptual design, and constructability reviews
- Contribute to construction schedule development
- Develop, assemble, modify, maintain, and close construction work packages
- Participate in pre-job briefs and ensure workers understand scope, hazards, mitigations, and expectations
- Generate field fabrication sketches, weld maps, and as-builts
- Monitor field activities, provide craft support, resolve field issues, and direct workers as needed
- Perform field inspection support and coordinate quality surveillance and inspection
- Ensure required NDE and acceptance testing are completed and documented
- Develop construction scope Turnover Packages and support turnover walkdowns
- Assist with design/verification or development of temporary construction structures and commodities
- For level II: represent Construction in project planning meetings, provide senior support, and mentor less experienced Construction Engineers
- For level III: manage and coordinate field engineering staff, influence project planning outcomes, provide subject matter expertise, monitor compliance, and potentially serve as Area Lead CDE or discipline SME
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical/science discipline and relevant construction engineering or practical construction experience in the electrical area; or High School Diploma/GED and relevant construction engineering or practical construction experience in the electrical area
- Relevant construction engineering or practical construction experience in the electrical area
- Preferred: Bachelor's or Associate's degree
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree
- Preferred: Electrical Construction Field Engineering experience
- Ability to perform material takeoffs and develop Bills of Material (BOM) or Material Service Requests (MSR)
- Knowledge of hazard analysis, hazard mitigation, site procedures, work packages, permits, and construction documentation
- Ability to perform field inspections for compliance with design specifications, procedures, guides, and National Codes and Standards
- Knowledge of Non Destructive Examination (NDE), acceptance testing, M&TE use and documentation
- Ability to develop construction scope Turnover Packages
- Electrical construction engineering and field support knowledge
