Job summary

  • Willingness to relocate to project site
  • Possibility of licensing requirements in the future

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site supervision of craft personnel to ensure safe, productive, quality work and controlled costs
  • Schedule labor, materials, tools, equipment, and subcontractors within the electrical discipline
  • Set direction for Assistant Trade Superintendents and Forepersons and ensure compliance with policies and regulations
  • Coordinate resources with other projects to maximize production and minimize costs
  • Enforce safety regulations and best practices across all sites
  • Manage orientation, training, and mentoring of frontline employees
  • Communicate project status to the Site Manager and stakeholders
  • Collaborate on staffing decisions including hiring and promotions
  • Assist Site Manager with owner communications and major project decisions
  • Mentor Field Construction Coordinators and Field Engineers
  • Identify potential change orders and report to Site Manager
  • Act as project leader in Site Manager’s absence
  • Relocate to project site for duration of projects

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Provide on-site supervision of Assistant Superintendents, Forepersons, and craft personnel to ensure safe, productive, quality work and controlled costs
  • Schedule labor, materials, tools, equipment, and subcontractors within the electrical discipline
  • Set direction for Assistant Trade Superintendents and Forepersons and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations
  • Provide quarterly coaching feedback and informal feedback; support onboarding, training, and mentoring of frontline employees
  • Coordinate resources with other projects to maximize production and minimize costs
  • Enforce company, jobsite-specific, federal, and state safety regulations and best practices
  • Manage employee orientation, special risks, cranes, lifting, DOT requirements, site conditions, telehandlers, JHAs, CATS observation goals, and accident/injury management
  • Communicate project status and problem areas to the Site Manager
  • Collaborate on staffing decisions including hiring, promotion, discipline, and termination
  • Assist the Site Manager with owner communications and negotiations regarding major project decisions
  • Create a collaborative working environment with craft personnel, subcontractors, vendors, and the Owner
  • Compare actual discipline costs with job estimates and report overruns
  • Verify construction activities and project engineering conform to the Quality Plan, Best Practices, and Quality Systems processes
  • Establish and communicate project specifications and craftsmanship expectations
  • Assist with quality, best practices, estimating, and project close-out information
  • Mentor Field Construction Coordinators and Field Engineers
  • Identify potential change orders and inform the Site Manager
  • Act as project leader when the Site Manager is absent
  • Hire locally, attend job fairs and public information meetings, and serve as liaison with community leaders and local landowners
  • Perform additional assignments as directed

Requirements

  • A 4-year degree in construction management, engineering, or related degree; equivalent combination of a 2-year technical college degree with a minimum of 3 years construction supervisory experience; or a minimum of 6 years of additional construction supervisory experience
  • Five years' experience supervising a construction crew and working in grading, structural, electrical, and/or mechanical construction
  • Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR)
  • Ability to supervise and present to a large number of employees
  • Working knowledge of equipment and their appropriate applications
  • Effective oral, written, listening, and presentation communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Project, and Visio
  • Excellent organizational, scheduling, planning, and prioritization skills
  • Accounting, math, and record-keeping skills
  • Involved with and understands all disciplines of current project task
  • Must relocate to the project site for the duration of each assigned construction project
  • May be required to become a qualified individual in pursuit of company contract licensing
