Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced construction supervisor to lead on-site teams, manage scheduling, safety, and quality controls across projects. You will mentor staff, coordinate with owners and subcontractors, and ensure compliance with corporate standards.

The role requires strong leadership, scheduling, and cost-control skills, with relocation to project sites as needed and relocation readiness for multiple sites.

Qualifications

  • Requires a 4-year degree in construction management, engineering, or related field or an equivalent combo.
  • 5 years’ experience supervising a construction crew in grading/structural/electrical/mechanical work.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean MVR.
  • Strong supervisory, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and project management tools.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site supervision of Assistant Superintendents, Forepersons, and craft personnel.
  • Schedule labor, materials, tools, equipment, and subcontractors for projects.
  • Direct frontline supervisors and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Mentor staff and support onboarding, training, and development.
  • Manage safety procedures, DOT requirements, JHAs, and incident management.
  • Communicate project status and issues to Site Manager.
  • Collaborate on staffing, hiring, promotions, discipline, and terminations.
  • Assist with owner communications and major project decisions.
  • Relate with craft personnel, subcontractors, vendors, and Owner.

Job description

  • Provide on-site supervision of Assistant Superintendents, Forepersons, and craft personnel
  • Ensure safe, productive, quality construction and control costs within the assigned discipline
  • Schedule labor, materials, tools, equipment, and subcontractors
  • Direct Assistant Trade Superintendents and Forepersons and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations
  • Provide quarterly coaching feedback and informal feedback to frontline employees
  • Support onboarding, training, mentoring, and employee development
  • Manage safety procedures, orientations, special risks, cranes, lifting, DOT requirements, site conditions, telehandlers, JHAs, CATS observation goals, and accident/injury management
  • Communicate project status and problem areas to the Site Manager
  • Collaborate on staffing, hiring, promotion, discipline, and termination of trade employees
  • Assist with owner communication and negotiation regarding major project decisions
  • Build collaborative relationships with craft personnel, subcontractors, vendors, and the Owner
  • Compare actual costs with job estimates and report overruns
  • Ensure construction activities and project engineering conform to the Quality Plan, Best Practices, and Quality Systems
  • Establish and communicate project specifications and craftsmanship expectations
  • Assist with quality, best practices, and estimating close-out information
  • Mentor Field Construction Coordinators and Field Engineers
  • Identify potential change orders and inform the Site Manager
  • Act as project leader when the Site Manager is absent
  • Hire locally, attend job fairs and public information meetings, and liaise with community leaders and local landowners
  • Perform additional assignments as directed
Requirements
  • A 4-year degree in construction management, engineering, or related degree; equivalent combination of a 2-year technical college degree with a minimum of 3 years construction supervisory experience; or a minimum of 6 years of additional construction supervisory experience
  • Five years’ experience supervising a construction crew and working in grading, structural, electrical, and/or mechanical construction
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR)
  • Ability to supervise and present to a large number of employees
  • Working knowledge of equipment and appropriate applications
  • Effective oral, written, listening, and presentation communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Project, and Visio
  • Excellent organizational, scheduling, planning, and prioritization skills
  • Accounting, math, and record-keeping skills
  • Involved with and understands all disciplines of current project task
  • Must relocate to the project site for the duration of each assigned construction project
  • May be required to become a qualified individual in pursuit of company contract licensing
