Job summary

Sharps Medical Waste Services is seeking a Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist to lead safety programs across multiple locations. You will own audits, incident investigations, training design, and continuous improvement, partnering with Operations, Fleet, HR, and site leadership.

The role requires managing complex regulatory compliance, developing curricula, mentoring staff, and traveling to sites as needed. Strong CSP/OSHA credentials are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent).
• 5-7+ years of progressive EH&S experience across multiple sites and industries.
• Demonstrated experience leading safety inspections, compliance audits, and incident investigations; corrective actions experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead compliance efforts with OSHA, EPA, DOT, DEA, CDC, and state regulations; manage permits, records, and documentation across sites.
• Design and lead facility safety inspections, hazard assessments, and audits; own risk mitigation strategies and corrective actions.
• Lead investigations of injuries, vehicle accidents, near misses, environmental incidents; perform root cause analysis and track actions to closure.
• Develop and deliver employee safety training programs (Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazard Communication, DOT Hazmat, PPE).
• Mentor junior EH&S staff and serve as SME across the organization; report to EH&S leadership with independence and judgment.
